You have to do that so that I can transfer the shape of the kitchen to the underpayment and the sheet vinyl before I cut them now. What I'm using is a felt paper that is designed for template. It comes in a roll, and you want to make sure that when you lay it down, the curl lays down like that. First thing I want to do is I want to cut it rough now. I slide it in a little bit all right now. The second piece is going to overlap the first piece and cover the remaining part of our floor. Now, I'm simply going to cut it roughly yeah all right now, I'm gonna take this and unfold it and drop it into the corner, and I just don't let that move all right.
All right, I'm just gonna make this last cut over here. While I'm doing that, can you tape the two pieces together all right? Okay, what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna cut some holes in the floor. I want you to run the tape across that, as the tape will hold the template to the floor and keep it from sliding. Now you notice that the paper doesn't go all the way to the wall that really doesn't matter because I'm gonna use this steel. Framing square, which is two inches wide to bridge that gap and Mark along the inside following the wall here in the living room.
We've taped four of the four by four sheets of underpayment together and I like to stagger the joints next, we're ready to take the template off the kitchen floor and lay it over those four sheets. Now you take your end and bring it right down over there. Now now you can tape right over those diamonds, so we won't move okay, so you can get the orientation of how the template is laid. This is the front of the stove, and this is the wall to the left of the stove. I simply take the framing square and I lay it on the line that I scribes and I now Mark along the outside of the framing square, which would represent the wall, and I follow it all the way around the template before we put the underpayment on top Of the old floor, we have to fill in the void of the missing tile.
We're going to mix up this Portland base. Underpayment filler noodle, I'm gonna go start cutting the underpayment great. Now we're ready to assemble the jigsaw. Puzzle drop it right in and slide it now watch the cabinet push it in, go push it right up tight to the back, we're gonna nail off the underlayment with one and a quarter inch long ring, shank nails here in the field. I space the nails. Eight inches apart using the same template and technique, we're ready to transfer the pattern to the vinyl flooring.
